Members were very pleased this year to return to their home patch,
Pangbourne Village Hall, on 20 – 21 April and hold their Annual Charity
Art Exhibition for Local Artists. This is a very popular event
with both artists and visitors.
This charity fundraising event has run for some six years, always very successfully. 2007 did not break this pattern. This year we raised over £1800 net for local good causes including £500 to Pangbourne Primary School and £300 to the wheelchair charity Mobility Trust. The Preview Evening on Friday attracted over a hundred potential customers who between them purchased paintings to the value of £3200 during the evening (perhaps the glass of free wine may have helped). As always this was a very pleasant social occasion enjoyed by the local artists and the customers alike. There were 357 works entered for display and sale in the Exhibition from 85 artists. Altogether we sold paintings to the value of £5350. Perhaps we should have stayed open a little longer than 4 pm on Saturday as the Hall was packed at the end of the Exhibition and we sold seven paintings during the last half-hour. |
